Mojave OS X File Server Upgrade | Design Agency | Windsor

A very important, busy client of ours needed to upgrade their faithful but ageing 2014 Mac Mini file server. At peak times up to 20 designers could be accessing this file server. It had a couple of Promise Pegasus RAID drives connected to it via Thunderbolt 2 so these needed to work on the new server. 


We proposed a new, highly specified Mac Mini with Thunderbolt 3 connections, plenty of RAM, a small but nippy SSD all running Mojave OS X 10.14. The server was configured and the user accounts were created off-site and tested. 


On a Monday at 7.30 am the new server was introduced onto the network, the RAID drives connected via adapters and the permissions propagated through all the folders. By 8.30 am it was fully operational. We sat back and waited for the staff to jump on their Macs in the Studio. It proved to be another successful installation, thanks to the planning and preparation before the Monday morning. The client is now enjoying much quicker response times from the new server even at the busiest of times.
